Katrina DeWitt
Biologist, Ph.D. candidate

I am Katrina DeWitt, a Ph.D. candidate in Biology at Duke University under the supervision of Dr. Jean-Philippe Gibert. My research focuses on microbial ecology, a field I am deeply passionate about. I earned an M.S. in Biology from Rutgers University, where I conducted research on the stoichiometric trait space of pitcher plant populations.

Throughout my career, I have taught molecular biology and ecology courses at the undergraduate level, emphasizing the importance of experiential learning and connecting academic concepts to real-world problems. I strongly believe in the value of hands-on research projects and have developed and led several such projects. As a result of my dedication to teaching and mentoring students, I have earned recognition as an innovative and inspiring educator.
