This project addresses how nutrient availability and temperature changes across an environmental gradient influence pitcher plant aquatic microbial structure and diversity directly and indirectly (through environmental changes in plant morphology). Specifically, we seek to understand how much local environmental factors like pH and temperature explain variation in species richness and abundance.
Temperature and nutrients influence microbes; how does predation mediate these effects?
Food web structure mediates bacterial responses to abiotic conditions.
How do temperature and nutrients influence pitcher plant microbial communities?
Stoichiometric trait space of pitcher populations changes along a geographical gradient.
