Teaching Statement

As an educator in biology, I guide students to develop critical thinking skills and facilitate student comprehension through hands-on laboratory sessions, encouraging them to take charge of their learning experiences.

2

Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

As I proceed in my academic and research career, I inspire to interact with students from underrepresented groups to continue to increase the equality of opportunities between students.

3

Commitment to Professional and Pedagogical Training

I always strive to include the best teaching practices within my courses and improve my skills. I have certificates of teaching in higher education from Duke University, the American Council on Education (ACE), and The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).

Anonymous student comment on Teaching Evaluation Fall 2022

"She would leave thorough and constructive comments on assignments. If the class as a whole was misunderstanding the objective of the assignment, she would explain what we were doing wrong and give us the opportunity to correct it."

Anonymous student comment on Teaching Evaluation Spring 2022

"My TA uses diagrams and drawing to help us learn the biology concepts. Moreover, she facilitates discussion and
problem-solving before and after lab protocol to help us understand not only what we are doing in lab, but why
we are doing it."
